Why review flash sales and coupons together?

Say a product's regular price is $21.50. A campaign cuts it to $18.50 and a $2 seller coupon also applies. In this example the customer pays $16.50, but your net collection depends on who funds the coupon and on platform terms. Do not assume the customer's payment equals your payout.

Does a commission advantage cover the discount?

"3% lower commission" is not enough to judge profitability. On an $18.50 sale, a three-point commission difference is worth about $0.56. Meanwhile the price fell $3 from $21.50. Until you compare the two changes on the same basis, you cannot call the campaign a good deal.

How to calculate your price floor

  1. Set the product's purchase cost and per-unit expenses such as returns and packaging.
  2. Confirm the commission and shipping deductions that apply during the campaign.
  3. Split the coupon into the share you fund and the share the platform funds.
  4. Solve for the selling price that delivers your minimum contribution profit.
  5. Compare demand before and after the campaign.

Watch for threshold crossings

At some price points, shipping fees or campaign terms change. Our shipping threshold pricing example shows when a crossing helps and when it hurts.

What XPrice supports

You can compare a product's current price, cost, discount rate and commission data across price scenarios. The discount rate used in the simulation is set in the product edit area and checked against order and promotion funding records.
